Curious about Writer's Workshop? Want to learn how to integrate writing and video creation? Traditionally, the workshop method is very open-ended; this particular project is more guided as it begins to introduce choice, mentor texts, revision, and developing a published piece.
This unit is one I use to introduce the Writer's Workshop and get to know my students in a creative and personal way. I usually spend about two weeks with my middle school students on this project at the beginning of the year.
This shortened PD session will give you hands-on practice using the free program AdobeSpark. You will be provided with a lesson plan and actionable ways to scale this up (for 9-12 graders) or down (for 4-5 graders). Learn the program, get a lesson plan, and spend the day writing and creating together.
